A couple of months ago, my boyfriend introduced me to thrifting as he noticed I don’t have much to wear (I must have given most of my clothes already) lol I’m good with a simple t-shirt and shorts, as he calls my favorite sports wear. I was hesitant at first because the idea of wearing used clothes is kinda icky, I was thinking there could be some skin diseases I could acquire from it.
But as the boyfriend explains, there’s a way to wash it and it’s completely okay – leaving it bacteria free. I just have to soak the clothes in a hot water for about 3-5 minutes and add detergent and leave it for a day then wash it like how you wash regularly, sundry and voila -it’s good as your old never worn clothes. Now, I love the idea of thrifting, or “ukay” as we call it here in the Philippines. I can be fashionable and look fabulous without having to pay much and buying anything new.
I still carefully choose what to buy from ukay, hence the number ONE rule: BUY ONLY WHAT YOU NEED, and followed by second: Don’t buy anything less than fabulous.
